Scribblers on the Road

2023 - 2025
Creative Learning
In 2023, a new Scribblers chapter began... ON THE ROAD! Scribblers is a celebration of storytelling that empowers youth of all ages to find and use their own voices to share and exchange stories in a multitude of ways.

For our inaugural year, Western Australia’s favourite writing and literature event for young people headed to the Pilbara. Since then we've returned a number of times and expanded out to the Goldfields region.

Scribblers Family Fun Days and our 'On-the-Road' program includes visits to remote schools, where families and teachers can feel inspired by new opportunities to spark their imagination. Activities, performances and workshops engage local talent, including First Nations artists and storytellers, as well as literal busloads of authors, illustrators and creative innovators from Australia and beyond.

The programming is designed to be open to everyone—free, family-friendly, and accessible across diverse communities. The program removes barriers to participation and promotes equity, diversity, and child safety, ensuring all people can engage meaningfully in the arts.

“Hedland has a lack of events for stay-at-home mums to do with their kids during summer. It can be incredibly isolating during this time but this event brought mums together and kids. Hedland is so transient that these events allow new parents and kids to meet others and build a support system and friendships in town.”
By offering inclusive creative spaces that support joy, reflection and self-expression, the unique program contributes to community wellbeing and demonstrates that creativity can be a catalyst for social connection, resilience and positive emotional health.
