Carrying The Fire is designed with privacy in mind. The app contains no advertising or cross-app tracking. FORM may receive limited technical diagnostics to support the performance, as described below.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Carrying The Fire mobile application handles information and device permissions.
The app supports participants in a live performance by synchronising show timing and playing locally stored torch cues.
The app does not require an account and does not ask for:
The app does not contain advertising, third-party analytics or cross-app tracking technology.
The app may send technical information to FORM to help check that show timing and torch cues are working correctly and investigate technical problems. This may include device model, operating-system and app versions, performance role, synchronisation results, app interruptions and torch-cue status.
Reports include a random event-specific reference to help investigate technical problems. It is not based on your name, contact details or an advertising identifier. Diagnostics are processed by FORM and its hosting provider and this information is not used for advertising or tracking you across other apps.
Certain permissions are required for the app’s performance functions. These permissions are used only for the purposes described below.
Camera permission may be required to control the device’s flashlight. The app does not take, record, access or transmit photographs or video.
Wi-Fi permissions allow the app to connect to an approved local performance network or venue timing hub.
On some older Android versions, the operating system requires location permission for certain Wi-Fi connection functions. The app does not use this permission to determine, record or transmit your location.
The app may check battery status, volume, screen brightness, time settings and torch availability. These checks occur locally and are not transmitted to FORM.
Before and during a performance, the app may communicate with public network-time services, currently including Cloudflare’s public NTP service, to calculate a clock adjustment. It may also communicate with a local venue performance hub when that mode is selected.
These connections involve ordinary technical network information, such as an IP address, being visible to the relevant network or service operator.
The app may also connect to FORM’s hosted services to receive updated show timing and cue information and send the technical diagnostics described above. Hosting and network providers may process ordinary connection information when providing these services.
The app may store operational settings locally on your device, including:
This information supports the performance and recovery from an interrupted session. Selected technical diagnostics may also be sent to FORM as described above. Uninstalling the app removes its local app data. Resetting the app clears selected operational settings but may not remove all stored diagnostics. Neither action deletes reports already sent to FORM.
FORM does not sell information collected through the app. Limited technical diagnostics are processed by FORM and its hosting provider, Cloudflare, to support performance reliability and troubleshooting, and retained for up to 30 days after the event.
Operational information stored locally remains on the device until it is reset, replaced or removed with the app.
If the way the app handles information changes, this Privacy Policy will be updated. The revision date shown at the top of this page will identify the latest version.
You can contact FORM with privacy questions or to request deletion of diagnostic information. Because reports do not contain your name or contact details, additional information may be needed to locate them.
