Join us at FORM Gallery on Thursday, 5 October 2026, to celebrate the opening of Threads of Listening.
Join us on Thursday 5 November to celebrate the opening of Threads of Listening, a multi-sensory textile exhibition by Perth artist Ben David, created during his Artist in Residence program.
Ben is a textile artist whose practice brings together making, sensory experience and access. Drawing on his work in disability-led arts, he creates artworks that welcome you in through many senses at once.
Threads of Listening explores the connections between touch, sound, landscape and memory. Each hand-tufted textile carries its own sound, creating tactile and sonic experiences that open up new ways to encounter fabric. At the heart of the exhibition, a large interactive work transforms touch into sound. Run your hands across its surface to awaken field recordings Ben gathered in Claremont and across Western Australia, bringing the voices of our local environment into the gallery.
Here, wool, texture and sound become ways of mapping place and connecting with the natural world. Touch, listen and wander, and create your own pathway through a landscape held in fabric and sound.
Meet the artist, enjoy a drink with us, and be among the first to experience the work.
